My buddy did a kitchen remodel job a few weeks back and hasn't gotten paid and the job has been completed for at least a week. They owe him about 2K and have refused to pay because they want him to remove some tile that he put as a backsplash and think he should remove and replace it for free. What sayeth the OT? Also, they picked out the tile and it was laid properly. I personally think they don't have the money to pay.

Need to change your title, your buddy doesn't sound like a General Contractor, He sounds like a handy man or remodeler. it would cost more to collect the $2000. I am a GC, our contracts values are pretty large and we have walked away from a lot more than that before as a balance owed etc, I have also pissed away money going after money owed because of who owed it. Good luck

2 grand is chump change in the world of remodeling to be honest.

Make the customer happy, get paid, move on to the next job

Sounds like needs to do the damn work. He has no pull being a tailgate sub contractor.

Sounds like he needs to do the punchlist they have if he wants to get paid and not get into a costly legal battle.

What's their issue with the tile or backsplash?
