I always assume comedies on the big four networks are going to suck so I tend to not check them out.
The only big four network comedies I watch are Community and Parks.
I never gave New Girl a second thought and assumed it was a chick show and was probably horrible until I watched an episode on Netflix. I've seen several now.
Hilarious.
Writing is great, it is not formulaic and I love it.
Schmidt kinda holds it together. Not sure it would be nearly as good without the character.
If you wrote it off like I did, maybe take a second look.

I got into it for a little while, but I haven't kept up with it. Winston and Nick end up having their moments of being as good as Schmidt.

Winston, Nick and Schdmit are all great characters. Jess just sort of get's in the way.

I'm interested to see how Winston develops.
I'm several episodes into the first season and Schmidt is dominating amongst the three guys. It's not even close.

I find myself enjoying the show less since Coach returned. He eats up screen time and is just likeable and unfunny.

Coach is a one note character.
