Do we have to the most powerful country on Earth for your self-esteem?

Anyone with brains knows that Russia with its resources will always be a powerful country. This is not new. China will always be a powerful country due to it's resources.
I don't see it anywhere written where the USA has to be the most powerful country in the world or the only country that matters. It's not in the bible or in the Constitution. The last time I checked people in Denmark and Norway were pretty happy despite not being a superpower.
People who want the USA to be a superpower just so they can feel good about themselves are pathetic. They are like the Alabama fans who couldn't get into college but make fun of Auburn.
If you are a Christian or a good person the superpower status of the USA has nothing to do with your soul and your own personal happiness and how you treat your family and friends and how they treat you.
Someone tell me why the USA has to be the only superpower on the planet or the most powerful country on earth. Sure you get off on your USA #1 bumper sticker or front license plate but get a life. You hyper patriots are worse than trekkies.

American Exceptionalism ruins our foreign policy. We love telling other people what to do and how to do it.

I know. I'm not saying we become wimpy like Canada but we need to stop thinking that our way is the only way or the best way and that being the most powerful country on the planet doesn't mean we are the best.

I had cold chicken on a poppy seed dressing salad for lunch. It was delightful. Oh, and some baby carrots.

Wow, it's funny to see how peole just don't want to address this point. I happen to agree with it. As long as we can defend ourselves and trade freely with those of our choosing, I don't give a shite what else the world does.

Maybe you should ask all the immigrants that migrate here what their reasoning is for coming here. Seems to be people from all over the world find us attractive for some reason when wanting to vacate the country they are leaving.

I know. Why do we have to be the most powerful country on the planet? For most of our history we minded our own business. It's really only since WWII that we have become preoccupied with this idea of being number 1. I'm willing to bet people who were happy in 1880 in the USA weren't down because we weren't the most powerful country on the planet.
As long as we can defend ourselves and have sovereignty and trade with who we want to trade with I don't get why we have to make everyone feel better about themselves because we are more powerful than France.

That is a positive for us, but does that mean we have to be the most powerful country on the planet with a defense budget that dwarfs all other countries?

I'd rather have the most prosperous, capitalized, and economically robust country rather than a 'powerful' government.

I once helped a friend reupholster a van.
He'd go to Goony Golf (or was it Goofy Golf?) in it and try to pick up chicks.

I think you are right. Goofy Golf. The guy who ran it was named "Doc". Doesn't matter where in America you are, it's always a guy called "Doc" or "Curly" or something like that. Nicknames and recreational putting are cosmically aligned for some reason.
