If they vote to, let them. It is a different situation than Crimea.
They have a history of attempted independence, and most importantly they aren't currently occupied by Russia.

If Russia pulls out. Lets Crimea really figure this out, i would support their decision either way.

As Russian president Vladimir Putin signed a treaty on Tuesday making Crimea part of Russia, a little-known region in neighboring Moldova has also pleaded to join the country.

Russian loyalists in the breakaway region of Trans-Dniester, which shares a border with Ukraine, asked the parliament in Russia to write new laws that would allow them to join the country. (Read more: No one supports military response: Ukraine PM )

The Trans-Dniester region split from Moldova around 1990 and made a failed attempt at independence in 2006, when it held a referendum that was unrecognized internationally.

The region did not want to split from the Soviet Union at the time of its collapse and has now requested unity with Russia.

That's actually not a bad idea. Right now Moldova is run by the Russian Mafia. Maybe Putin can clean the place up some.

I don't think you grasp the whole "Russian Mafia" concept.

Who is the "they" in that sentence? The breakaway region, or Moldova?

I don't think just because some little region wants to break away it should get too. But if the rest of the country is OK with it; OR if there is a long history of the country oppressing the people in that region; then I am OK with it.

Someone who isn't besties with them?

Thats like saying Chris Christie would be a good person to take over New York because they are currently run by fat people. (I don't know if new york is run by fat people it was just geographically close)

How is this region going to join Russia when it shares no common border with Russia or Crimea?

It would be similar to Kaliningrad.

Most Americans don't know that Russian history teaches them that the US stole Alaska.

They claim the English version of the Alaska agreement said "sell" while the Russian language version which the Czar signed said "lease." They believe the Czar thought he was leasing Alaska to the US for 99 years.

And their proof is the US made Alaska a state just a few years before the 99 years were to expire.

True story.

Possession is nine-tenths of the law. I'm guessing they don't teach that in Russian schools either.
