My little girl dropped her iPad Mini. She's very upset. It is the 1st generation, 16 GB edition. Screen cracked. $179 + tax is the estimated cost of repair. I want to make the situation right.

WWYD? Repair for $179 + tax or buy a new one? Repairing it myself is not an option I am willing to look at, because of two reasons:

1. My skill level, or lack thereof.
2. My time.

you may be able to get an older version iPad for cheaper
or you'll have to get it repaired and buy her a case this time

She had a case. Apparently she dropped it at the right angle to where her case did not help.

You need to make her do something first.

She needs to learn a lesson about taking better care of her shite.

Make her help mom with woman chores or something then give her back the fixed ipad

I have no problem disciplining my child, but it was an accident. She meant no harm. We all make mistakes. Your parents did too.

did you buy with AmEx?

if not, then buy a new one with AmEx and don't open, make a claim on broken one, get replacement, return unopened one.

go to jail for fraud.

i feel your pain man. if my boy (4yo) broke his ipad, he would be absolutely inconsolable.

i'd look on apple's site and buy a refurbished one for about that same price or cheaper that's certified by apple.

My wife has an AMEX and we may have in fact used it to purchase, because of the extended warranty protection.

Good suggestion, will look into this when I get home.

that price seems high.

The parts are like $50, so you are being charged well over $100/hr for labor.

Look for a used one on ebay.

Or buy a refurbished one for $249.
