Watched this last night. It was profiling the drug issue in Seattle. Per the show, their liberal laws regarding drugs has caused the Mexican cartals to setup shop in the city. Apparently, the city is a haven for illegals because they refuse to deport. Anyone familiar with Seattle's drug issues? The topic of decriminalizing drugs fascinates me, and I wonder how much truth was in the show. Again, per the show, they love some Molly's and Heroin.

I did some professional training at Harbor View in Seattle years ago. Their thought process relative to drugs is jacked up. They were one of, if not the first, cities to introduce the clean needle programs that gives clean needles to junkies to stop Hep and AIDs spread.

They are, as you suggest, deportation averse.

Seattle, from a culture standpoint and progressive trend standpoint is about 5-10 years ahead of the rest of the country.

It is one of the best and worst cities in America wrapped into one IMO.

Drug Inc. is a good show. But, it wouldn't surprise me if they make some issues seem larger than they actually are.

Also, the drug scene in Vancouver,BC heavily influences what happens in much of the US Pacific NW.

Outside of sports the only shows I watch on TV are ones that deal with crime...

Good stuff. Like another poster said, I wonder how much is fluff for the show. I wonder how they compare to other cities their size in terms of drug crimes.

People in Seattle love their drugs. If you want it, it's easy to find. It's been pot friendly for years, but heroin is fairly easy to find there compared to many other cities of it's size.

Seattle is the only place I've had multiple people offer to sell me heroin just walking down the street. And I'm 35 and look enough like a cop that I wouldn't offer me heroin. They dgaf.

Seattle is the bizarre blend of Asians, Canadians, Alaskans, extremely buttoned down professionals, hipsters and junkies.

There are some hardcore Northwestern rednecks (picture Louisiana rig trash with Canadian accents) in Seattle that are associated with the seafood and shipping industry too.

Did you see the NYC one with the dealer dressed like a fencer? $200 for a gram of coke!

The heroin segment on Drug,Inc:Vancouver was disturbing.

Yes. But in this episode, they also were in Puerto Rico, and those fools were using a mixture of heroin and horse tranquilizer. Yikes. To reduce the sedative effect, they would shoot up coke right after.

Didn't see it but can speak from experience. Huge homeless problem and many are junkies. Was offered heroin countless times just walking downtown. Pretty sad.

It's scary that pills are such a huge problem, and people turn to heroin bc it's cheaper.

Not that I've ever needed extra motivation to avoid Heroin, but the New Orleans episode showed a white kid squatting in a house in the Lower 9th Ward who was strung out - that just doesn't look fun at all.
