That's going to be a lot of food consumed for one show.

Great opportunity for a "What's in the box?" gag. Could be doughnuts or something. Done subtly, it wouldn't be a huge distraction.

I gotta say, out of the new shows last year, I liked Ray Donovan the best. Jon Voight was money.

Hmmm. Interesting. There's also speculation that one of the detectives will be a woman. Angelina Jolie?
After all the good buzz from the first season, and the fact that Matthew McConaughey is going to win an Emmy for his role, I imagine they'll have no trouble getting A listers for the next season.

I have a question about TD, and I guess TV in general, that will contain some SPOILERS I guess regarding TD.

How does a TV show get such high profile actors right out of the gate? Pitt I get because TD season 1 blew up. But for season 1...the show basically came to MM and WH, both major big time actors, and said "we've got a detective show we want to run, it's only going to be 8 episodes, it's not on cable, and your characters will be done after this season".

How do they get that star power to sign on for that, aside from just throwing a ton of cash at them? Or is that it?

Pay them a lot of money for little work (8 episodes is the real key)

Well then let me be more direct. True Detective was the most overrated show I've seen in a long time. Some of the discussion was interesting if not particularly original, but the story was quite ordinary, and the pay off was Dexter-finale-level shite.

I would imagine only 8 episodes would be attractive rather than a deterrent for most A listers. I know a lot of big name actors don't do TV simply bc of the time commitment.
