It's been a very long time since I read the book, but that trailer seemed very different. I thought the world in the book was devoid of color. Also, the kid seemed kind of old, unless I pictured the main character being my age in my mind when I read the book and he was actually older.

It was. iirc the kid has to be taught what colors are.

Still looks dope though. Jeff Bridges is the man

Also, if I am way off base, let me know. But I don't remember the book being very "active". This seemed too much like Hunger Games or that Divergent movie. If I am remembering correctly, the atmosphere had a very anti-technology feel to it.

yeah I haven't read it since elementary but I know he is trying to escape at the end of the book and the drones? are trying to find him using some kind of thermal detection and he has to think of something cold. It was a great book.

I think that the porno parody of this movie is probably already in the works.

Meh

I loved the book but I didn't think it was that futuristic at all, I had the feeling there wasn't much technology at all and felt like the common people were rather Amish and lived in wood houses and such.

This looks like a DVD movie

That's the image I have in my head as well. I'm having a tough time imagining what things the giver is going to reveal to him that aren't already there.
