I was perfectly fine with taking a WR in the 1st like Cooks or Beckham or whoever may be there, but I think a CB in the 1st needs to be necessary, and the evidence is in our schedule next year.

While we don't know the dates, we have:

Tampa Bay (X2) - Vincent Jackson
Atlanta (X2) - Julio, Roddy
Green Bay - Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb
Vikings - Cordarelle Patterson
Baltimore - Torrey Smith, Steve Smith
Cincy - A.J. Green
San Fran - Crabtree, Boldin
Steelers - Antonio Brown
Chicago - Marshall, Jeffery
Detroit - Megatron
Cleveland - Josh Gordon
Dallas - Dez

That's basically a Who's Who of top receivers in the NFL. If Keenan Lewis goes down, we would have to trust Corey White or P-Rob coming back from injury to man up on them

You don't stop WR by covering them with CB talent, you stop them by sacking the qb

I'm on this wagon as well. I'm basically fine with the best combination/value of CB or WR in the first and second rounds. We really need a high impact guy at both spots.

We need a young impact rush LB...I know Mosley plays the middle, but I think he can play anywhere in a 3-4 and be badass.

We absolutely do not need LB depth more than we need WR or CB starters. It's just that simple.

I've said before, the absolute only way we take a LB is if Mosely falls. No one else that even has a remote chance of falling is worth it more than what we need.

You expect a rookie corner to cover any of those guys? Because I don't. Rookie CBs are almost just like rookie WRs.. Steep learning curve. Even if we take one, chances are he will not pass PRob or White on the depth chart. If PRob has pre-injury speed he is more than good enough to be our #2, especially with our supporting cast.

I think we need depth at CB, but it is asinine to think we can plug and play a rookie over two experienced vets and expect quality play.

I feel like I'm the only one on this board who likes our chances with Robinson at #2. 2012 is still too fresh. He balled out in 2011. News flash: everyone sucked in 2012.

IMO we have a WAY bigger hole at LB. Teams are gonna slaughter us underneath, we have no real pass coverage skills at LB.

But in all seriousness the wr class as a whole is pretty deep so we just need a guy that can beat man coverage.

I completely agree with you, however, I just can't roll with Lewis, Prob, and White as our only recognizable top three guys and feel ok with that. We absolutely need another impact guy there. You can't just lose a guy like Greer stand pat and expect to still roll at the same standard.

False. We have Lofton and Hawthorne. While they could certainly be improved upon, that's not even close to the biggest NEED on the team. Not to mention we also have Humber who played a pretty significant role last year.

Throw to PRob or White's man like they did all last season.

Which tells you what position we need to upgrade in the era of spread offenses in order to give Jordan, Hicks, Galette, and Butler the 2.5 to 3 seconds to get a sack, fumble, force an INT.

The only corner I like in the 1st is Dennard or Verett and thats because of physicality......

Agreed. While the Saints have surprised us in the past, I'd be shocked if we didn't take a WR and CB by Round 3, if not 1 and 2. I'd be more than fine with something like:

1. Cooks/Benjamin
2. Roberson/Purifoy/Jean-Baptisite

Or

1. Verrett/Fuller
2. Moncrief/Richardson/Matthews

Lofton has been terrible at pass covering for his entire career. He is a great run thumper, though. I can't speak for Hawthorne's pass coverage. I'd be interested to see the PFF pass coverage stats on both, if Hoodoo happens to see this.

Humber was pretty decent in coverage last season. He is good depth, I hope he plays more this season. But I was talking about more on the outside. Who do we have? Butler and Gallette. Pass rushers. We had Haralson, and we let him walk (for now). I'd be a little more comfortable if they brought him back.

I did not say it was the biggest hole on the team, I just said it's a bigger need than CB IMO. CB needs depth (again, I like both PRob and White) but LB needs a guy who can share snaps with Butler and Gallette to cover the pass on select downs.

You sound like the clueless mock drafters. We do NOT need another pass rusher. It would be nice to have another one but our entire defensive line outside of Bunkley, along with Galette and Butler, have shown plenty capable of getting to the QB and that was with Jenkins and Harper playing a good bit of safety.

We NEED a fast cover LB, not a rush guy. Hell if he can do both even better.

Not to mention how often we play in 4 man fronts. People forget we're not a true 34.

Hell half the time were more like a 425

I thought it was silly when all these NFL front offices starting giving these huge contracts to CB's. Thanks for clearing that up.

/sarcasm off

You ever think that having good CB's leads to improved pass rush. They go hand in hand.
