More than 5 million people have now selected an Obamacare health insurance plan on a government-run exchange, with just two weeks to go before a March 31 deadline for obtaining such coverage, a top federal official announced Monday.

So they will likely hit 5.5m "Selecting a plan" out of the original 7m they needed for the law to make sense... But lets break down those numbers

Only 75% (On Avg) have Paid

So that means 4.125 will have actually paid for a plan... But wait

Only 14% of enrollees are previously uninsured

So in reality, 770k of the 5.5m are newly insured and if the %s hold, only 577k of those paid

577k people... There is your number

So, of those 46million uninsured that Obamacare was intended to take care of, we're all the way up to 577K?

577K = 1.25% of those 46million

Remind me, what is the total costs to date to insure 577k?

None of those numbers are believable if they come from this white house.

We could have built fully staffed hospitals for each individual person actually insured for the amount of money it will cost

I dunno. Hopefully it'll take a while before the American people trust our government with healthcare again. I don't see how this makes any sense:

"Obama and the Liberals totally failed with Obamacare. Obviously, this isn't working. Let's just do the next thing that the Liberals will recommend."

Unless you think that the majority of the GOP that is going to takeover Washington soon will be the ones to push single payer? IMO, that's the only way it happens any time soon.

Not if the Pubs can get control of the government and repeal this abortion.

I have a friend who thinks I'm crazy for not "seeing" that a single-payor system is right around the corner. But if the GOP takes control of the Senate, to go along with their control of the HOR, I don't see single payor taking hold anytime soon.

Well the website along was north of $500m....

The WH said 800B over 10yrs... Which we know is WAY off.

So just using the numbers we have now... And they will def change as more people come on board. But at this point, we are paying (if my math is right) 138k a year per new enrollee.

But, if just one of those 577K is a child, then it's worth it.

The problem with repealing obamacare is that there's no going back.

I just wonder how satisfied that affluent folk in the Countries that already have Single-Payer are? Do they go out of the SP network to acquire better services? Of course, given our particular demographic...what works there might not here.

I suspect that the real Progressive impetus is to meld the Middle Class and the Lower into one economic Class where both access to pay and healthcare can be managed. The Progs believe that wealth inequality is the biggest problem.

Both the High-ups in the *Party*...and the Rich cronies/Oligarchs will always lap up the cream of any good and service. That won't change. Obama's daughters will never be standing in a line; no more than they would have been left hangin in Benghazi if they had been manning the fort.

Power corrupts. Our supposed 'best'...disgust me sometimes. If not for my Faith...I wouldn't bother burdening my perception with Humanities' problems. I'd head to the woods and let em' have their mind games and mediocrity.

But I do have Faith. And I love the book "Abundance". Once we get over the hump...the sky is the limit.

So, assuming a US population of 350,000,000 (give or take), this means we fricked up the whole system to accommodate a little bit over 1 person in 700 or so. And I would guess that a good number of those didn't even WANT coverage to begin with.

Welcome to Obama's America, 2014. Where a hair on the tail wags the whole fricking dog.

Not without some sort of price controls on the insurance industry. Which opens up a whole new can of worms.

Probably not soon. I can just imagine several "unforeseen" circumstances that would aide it along after the republicans inevitably destroy themselves.

I'm gonna go ahead and predict that the GOP will clean house in November. Then, they will proceed to repeal and replace Obamacare with a single-payer system themselves. The GOP is really stupid.

I love it how they were including "paid for" enrolles that were previously insured but the ACA forced them to lose their coverages!

So basically, create a law that FORCES 16 million to lose their health insurance, then claim success when those 16 million have NO CHOICE but to sign up for the very law that made them lose their previous plan!

ALL humans who defend this are morons!
