Here we go again. Dogs were in their backyard.

I just can't follow the logic: The cop thinks a suspect is in the yard. The cop thinks the dogs will pose a danger to anyone entering the yard. Cop kills dogs to look for suspect in yard. Wouldn't the suspect be attacked by dogs if a) he was in the yard and b) the dogs were dangerous?

I dislike most police officers.

waiting on DawgFaninCA to tell us how these dogs would "seriously injure" the officers to justify the shooting.

I understand cops chasing the bad guys but when you watch Cops I always wondered how that worked when they go running through peoples backyards jumping fences. What happens when one or more than one of those fenced in yards have a dog or dogs in the backyards that are there to protect their yards.
I guess I see how it could go sometimes now. Truly sad as a dog owner to see your beloved animal go down like that.

Electrified fences would take care of these fence jumpers, crook or cop.

And it would set you up for a lawsuit when their toddler walks into and gets shocked.

Suing the city and the cop personally for as many things I could think of would be the first thing I would have one of my lawyer friends do for me. The cop was guilty of simple trespass once he entered the property without permission.

Well I was talking about a couple of strands across the top. Neighbor could always put up a fence inside my fence to protect the chilins if there was concern.

So the cop thought the guy he was chasing was in the fenced in yard with the dog, so to check, he shoots the dog and then enters???

I think police can use "hot pursuit" to go through people's property without permission or warrant when chasing a suspect.

You just destroyed every cop shooting a leashed, or fenced in dog...ever.

Roy, as an old timer I've been asked what is the biggest difference in society since I started paying attention in the 50s. My answer is 'lawyers.'
They went after cigarettes, not because they wanted to save people. It was a gold mine.
They went after asbestos, not because they wanted to save people. It was a gold mine.
Now they are going after Meso, not because they want to save people. It's a gold mine.
There will be another gold mine that is total fraud long after I am gone. That is the nature of the profession.
America has more lawyers than the rest of the world... so, it's supply and demand. A feeding frenzy.
I've actually met a lot of lawyers who just gave up and went into other fields because they were so sick of the chase.
In fact, Neal Boortz was a successful lawyer and quit to go into broadcasting because he was disgusted with the practice of law.

Put the electric wire on top. Toddlers aren't that damn tall.

I am very certain that a settlement will be reached other this. It does not however bring your dog back.
