"Every business is a Ponzi/pyramid scheme" - Bitcoin/MLM spinoff

There are many definitions of a Ponzi or pyramid scheme, but there is a very simple solution to discover if someone is involved in a Ponzi scheme or a pyramid scheme - accuse them. If their argument centers on the idea that "every business is a pyramid scheme, you're boss makes money off of you and his boss makes money off of him...", then that person is most definitely involved in a pyramid scheme.
Whether it be Bitcoin or multi-level marketing outfits like Herbalife and Nu Skin, the most common defense I hear from those involved and see on message boards is that every business is a pyramid scheme. It absolutely drives me crazy that people are so uninformed about their own company/scheme/currency that they defer to ignorantly accusing everyone of being involved in a pyramid scheme.
This thread is not designed to shite on Bitcoin or companies like Herbalife, nor am I trying to say that either is a pyramid scheme. I am simply trying to point out that this particular argument is one of the more asinine things I've ever heard. It should be put to rest immediately, but the people that use it believe they are legitimizing their business by questioning others. It is the logical equivalent of someone accusing you of being a terrorist, and your rebuttal being, "Oh yeah, well you are a terrorist too!!"

These have become buzzwords that people throw around for various reasons. The definition of "Ponzi scheme" is very specific, so I guess it's easy to use incorrectly.
