I remember when I first heard about email. sounded like a gimmick to me and I was skeptical anyone would really use it. Boy did I miss the boat on that one. wish I could go back to 95 and invest all of my money in email.

I still remember the conversation with a classmate after Speech class in Spring 96. I walked with her to Middleton so she could email a friend in West Virginia using those Tiger terminals. I was all defiant like "what a pain in the arse. just write the girl a letter or call her."

Yep. Guilty.

Yeah it would be nice to have some of that internet money.

I'm not as old as that but I do remember in high school when someone showed me text messaging on my phone. I thought it was stupid.

And the first time I saw facebook I just knew they were going to start charging for subscriptions after 6 months.

I received my first e-mail in 93. I was taking a Pascal course at USL and were given instructions on how to log in and check our e-mail in the computer lab (Tandy 1000s ). She had sent us a simple message basically welcoming us to the course. At the time my reaction was basically like, this is cool and all, but why would anybody ever need this?

I'll admit I didn't think much of it at first. Of course, I was a kid, so I didn't understand the need for getting information from one place to another so quickly.

Hell, I didn't even use it until college in 2002.

At first, I thought you were talking about the "Paige" email going around.

I'm not that old, but I definitely thought the whole social media thing was stupid, especially before I was in college, back when it was exclusively for .edu email accounts. The whole concept of a digital version of the friend you see every day in real life seemed so idiotic to me
