Joining Arizona and Texas, New Jersey is blocking the sale of Tesla direct to consumer. They have two dealer licenses already, which I assume they intend to revoke.

So much for free-market choices, the dealers have to get their cut of the pie.

New Jersey is banning them because they don't know how to pump the "gas."

Not for long... As soon as Tesla and the state come to an agreement over the multi billion dollar battery facility and 2500 jobs going there, things will quickly change.

That's great news.

I thought New Jersey was all progressive though. Discouraging the use of electric vehicles?

They should care. I care and live in MS and wouldn't even want a Tesla. But they should have every right to sell their cars as they please as long as the cars themselves meet safety standards. That regulation is nothing more than protectionism of dealerships and the Big 3

I thought Tesla's sales were based on a direct purchase anyway.

I did read something about the battery plant as well.

Because of the unions. Lib on lib crime, just like the blacks vs. the gays. Top notch entertainment.

New Jersey's state motto: "Telling others to shove it up their arse since 1787."

Btw, I'm confused... When did Texas completely outlaw Tesla sales?

I know they aren't allowed to discuss pricing or have "dealerships", but they have had a showroom in the galleria for years.

You can look, sit in, play with the cars, but if you have any questions, you are directed to call Tesla corporate.

I don't see how a state can say "You aren't allowed to buy something from another state".
