Driving my GMC Envoy the past few days, I've noticed that the transmission sometimes does not want to stick in the overdrive gear. It'll idle out in overdrive and then downshift a few times before it settles.

Any ideas?

Had one in my last truck. At the end of the day you already know you're going to have to take it in. Call around and see if anybody will run a free diagnostic check.

I think that's starting to look like the only solution unfortunately.

Maybe the problem will just go away...

Can't remember, but I think the overdrive is more common in the 4L60. Also can't remember if it is replaceable, but look into a used one if so

It's a crappy transmission. I just put a 4l80e in my little truck, but that's because it's a performance truck that would burn through 60s. I did however burn through a 4l60 in 60k miles in a truck that just had exhaust and a tune. Good luck.

I'm up to 132k on this car with only a CAI. But I wouldn't be surprised because I hear that's the weak link of Chevy trucks. I know their V8s and such are bullet proof but the transmissions can be iffy.
