My situation, I have a 4 door GMC Sierra with a low profile toolbox so my bed isn't all that big. My wife and I have two 12' Tarpon kayaks. Currently we are putting them on top of her SUV, but looking for something easier for my truck. Got any suggestions?

If it's impossible to strap them down in the bed, get a truck bed extender.

Will a truck bed extender support the weight of two? They are about 63 pounds a piece.

Bed extender will be fine for length and weight.

I know a dude that hauls a Tarpon 160 in a Tacoma with extender, no problems.

Yeah, those T-extenders that fit in to the trailer hitch are money.

You can also turn them up where the boats ride up high so you can put stuff in the bed.

Maybe someone can post a pic.

I saw someone who welded a rack to stack two kayaks that slid in the bed of his truck and connected to his receiver hitch. You slid one kayak into the "frame" and strapped the other kayak onto the top of the rack/frame.

The problem I found is that there isn't enough space between the wheel wells to put them side to side. So you either need to put them on the side or stack them.

Depending on how wide they are, if you use this you might have to slide them in sideways.

Slight high jack question for you.

Since you have a hobie, you may be able to provide insight on a hobie model for me.

I've seen some people fishing out of the Hobie Adventure Island setup. I'm curious as to how that model is set up for occasional fishing. I don't have the frame of reference for fishing purposes.

I could use the sail and outrigger setup for some long distance events, and I was thinking it may be decent for fishing as well. I could leave the sail and outriggers off if need be.

Any insight?

Yeah, I know it's long.

It would just be easier to justify if it had two purposes.
