Number 9 getting his jersey retired tonight. One of the greatest American hockey players ever. Made me a hockey fan. Also Dallas strait PIMP with the ladies.

I wish Shane Churla would fight someone just for old times sake.

My SO and I were at the game too. Our first date was a Stars game.

It's sad to see how far the franchise has fallen. I go to games and see as many people wearing the opponent's jersey as I do Stars gear.

I truly believe in a few years the new owner will try to relocate the team to somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.

Dallas has become a melting pot because so many people from other places are moving there for jobs. So a part of the away team takeovers is due to that. Plus it's not just the stars. Look at the mavs and cowboys. Same problem. Stars will NOT relocate and last night was pretty much evidence that they won't.

He was soft, which was fine because the Stars were loaded with tough players. Churla, of course, but also the Hatcher brothers were pretty much evil incarnate. Jere Lehtinen is the only winger in the past 20 years to win the Selke Award, and he won it 3 times. Modano was a scoring machine, and a wizard on the power play.

Great player, and he deserved this ceremony. He also brought me a beer once at his now-closed bar. And that was super cool, having a Hall of Famer hand you a beer.

Don't live in Dallas any longer, but miss it.

As for #9 and the Stars in the late 90s, great player, great guy and great teams.

Those games in Reunion Arena against the Red Wings, Avalanche, Oilers, Sharks, etc.

So many wonderful memories.

It was cool seeing the turnout for him last night.

False.

Hurrying back to the locker room to get 35 stitches in/on his nose so he could come back out and keep playing is NOT typical of a "soft" player. Dude was a competitor....not a Stars fan, but a fan of good hockey. He was good hockey.

Or playing the 99 Finals with a broken wrist. Definitely soft.
