Who is Best Actor on Modern Family?

I'd say Cam, followed closely by Phil and Jay

Best actor or best character?
For as good of a show as it is, the acting isn't particularly great. Pretty much every character is the exact same episode to episode.

I'd say Cam because he's the only one doing any real acting. The rest of them are just playing themselves basically.

Old Bundy brings the grumpy old man perfectly which makes his heartfelt moments work even better.

Probably early, but Luke (Nolan Gould) has got to be right there, now. All of the Dunphy kids are good, but Luke starts to stand out in the later seasons.

Part of the problem is the other boy child is Luke, IMO, and this makes Manny look bad by comparison.
Julie Bowen (Claire) is underrated, as well - the chemistry between her and Ty Burrell (Phil) drive the show forward.
Likewise, Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell) - has a tough job, because he has to be in contrast to Cam - and yet still pull off his funny lines - in a way he has the toughest job in the show, because he has to be Cam's straight man, then play off Jay, with Jay as his straight man. That's a tough balance.
The acting on this show is one of the best by a pure comedy since Seinfeld - and perhaps better, when you consider all the various interactions (compared to the big 4 of Seinfeld) - a better comparison would back to WKRP - which was also stunningly well acted, and with a more comparably sized regular cast.

I think the kid who plays Manny is a poor actor, which makes his character the weakest link on the show. He's outta his league.

Manny, yes. I will say though that Lilly has gotten quite a bit better this season though. She's not the best, but with what they ask her to do she doesn't need to be. Her miming to the camera during the end credits as Cam and Mitchell were arguing about the wedding earlier in the season had me in stitches.
As far as who's the best, i say Phill followed closley by Cam and Jay. Aside from Manny though, there really isn't much bad acting on this show. Alex used to annoy the shite out of me with her bitchiness towards Haley, but that's gotten better too.
