Stopped reading when he said MLS features "dull play". You can call it a lot of things but its usually not dull. Now LA Liga on the other hand...

There will always be the occasional 40-yard cracker that awes the crowd, but how often do we see passages like these two Arsenal goals?... And how about anything like Messi here, one man completely shredding an entire defense? Not so much, eh?
Seriously? This guy obviously knows very little about soccer and wants to talk shite about the MLS 'cause that's cool.

Tired, rehashed bullshite consistent with their coverage of soccer.
The article is overly critical of the standard of play, and while I react similarly to organized fan support, I'm not going to actively discourage people from spending money to create an entertaining environment. They do more to support MLS than I do, so I'm not going to sit on the internet and shite on them.
I pay ~$60 and can watch every single game at a reasonable hour. If I'm not interested, or if I become disinterested, I won't watch (I approach all other soccer similarly--there's enough of it out there), but it can be entertaining. It's not like there's anything else for a significant portion of the season: "Don't watch actual soccer. Just sit on goal.com and read about some bullshite transfer that's never going to happen between who gives a frick and no one cares--two Premier League bottom-feeders."

Yea I really don't get these types of articles. For one, MLS is exciting as hell and there's parity. Its not the most technical league but neither is the BPL. Secondly, I shouldn't watch it because there are better products out there? I hope the author doesn't like CFB or CBB. I hope he's never been to a minor league baseball game. I sure hope he's never been to one of his kids ball games because that's nowhere near the pinnacle of the game and would be a colossal waste of his time.
I think these types of people need to be honest with themselves and admit they are not fans of the game but fans of a particular club or league.

Pretty shitty article. So he is going to be critical about the fans being obnoxious? How many live pro and college sporting events has he been to? Most of the people there are obnoxious. Atleast at an MLS game they don't play some jock jams cd.

I'm just waiting for this guy to come back so I can ask what he agrees with.

Nothing better than an American soccer fan hating on, ya know, American soccer. This guy has no idea what he is talking about.

You could've walked into a number of mid-table English starting 11s, maybe helped Jozy find his footing at Sunderland, or maybe joined another decent-to-good Serie A club like the Chievo Verona side Roma plucked you from. In short, you had options, man!
Options! Like a team that will be playing in the Championship next year!

Well maybe he could've walked onto a team like that but he would've have gotten such a good payday. Then again if he went to Sunderland they would've likely still sucked.

The best part is how the author writes this as if MB didn't know, and if he could have only let him know, things might have turned out differently.

This will also be the first full season for USMNT captain Clint Dempsey, who must be anxious to prove that last year's up-and-down campaign and unsuccessful run with Fulham had more to do with rust and new-league acclimation than with the fact that he's soon to be 31.
Quality proofreading, bro.
Deadspin should stick to scouring the web for pictures of Brett Favre's penis.

Ha I missed that, what a hack.

I already had my rant on Twitter earlier today, as you probably saw. Pretty much what everyone else is saying.
Let's complain about how Lionel Messi isn't playing in a 19-year-old league in a country with multiple major sports. Let's talk about the level of play while not actually watching any action. And let's also not proofread or fact check anything.
That guy is clueless.

He thinks the MLS is boring? Must not be a soccer fan.
I'm watching a replay of a U21 match between England and Wales right now and I'm even entertained by that.
