U.S. House votes to delay Obamacare penalty for non-enrollment

Someone asked the other day if the penalty would be extended as well?
Nope need the Benjamins.
The Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives voted on Wednesday to delay for one year the tax penalty Americans will pay under President Barack Obama's healthcare law if they decline to enroll in health coverage.
The measure to delay the tax penalty passed by a vote of 250-160, with 27 Democrats joining with 223 Republicans to back the legislation. The bill is certain to go nowhere in the Democratic-controlled Senate and would face a White House veto even if it succeeded.
The 27 Democratic votes on Wednesday for the bill fell short of the 39 who broke ranks with the White House last November and voted with Republicans in favor of a failed bill that would have allowed health insurers to continue to sell plans canceled under Obamacare

Absolutely fricking astounding to me... I don't see how there isn't an equal protection lawsuit here.
I don't have insurance, you are forcing me to buy it, and you say that I have to have X plan... Yet, others are allowed to keep Y plan for 2 more years without penalty.

Even if it was signed into law, it wouldn't do a damned thing for folks like me who are paying a lot extra because they have already complied with the stupid law. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Yes, Republicans! Delay the consequences of electing Democrats another year until after the next election, so the people who have yet to feel the consequences of their votes can vote the same as before! Brilliant!!
fricking Boehner.

At this point, I don't think it matters. The Ds have discovered that they can totally screw up a sector of the economy (or our lives) in the name of "progress," blame the negatives on the Rs while taking credit for the minority of beneficiaries, and get reelected by the a large portion of the very people it hurt because they are emotional, lock-step Ds who think they need more government to fix the problem that government created.
The progressive's MO:
1. ID a small problem and use drama to make it a tragedy with the help of the MSM.
2. Create a politically correct "solution" to the social injustice taking place, and fill it with legal loop holes and pork to benefit big D donors
3. Hammer the Rs and all those in opposition with identity politics based on socioeconomics, race, sex, religion, and sexual orientation
4. Pass the bill and glorify the achievement as progress away from injustice
5. Obfuscate and delay answering questions on the negatives that start to pile up while accusing detractors of lying and trumping up claims.
6. Accuse Rs of causing failures because of their opposition or blame Rs for the entire disaster based on some crazy reasoning. (For the ACA it will be the Rs staunch defense of the rich insurance providers that caused pain/problems with the ACA)
7. Get reelected based on emotional appeals and negative campaigns with the help of the MSM.
It worked with the real estate/sub-prime disaster blame... why not?

Good. Make the Senate vote it down or make the President veto it.

Meh, the major consequences for the economy are already delayed. The payment for noncompliance is just a money-maker for Washington out of the pockets of Americans. The GOP can use this to show that Obama is willing to delay his baby in order to win elections except the part where Americans have to pay him.

Republicans are fricking morons.
The only Obamacare bills that should be brought up are a complete repeal or defund.
These delays serve no purpose. The democrats wanted this, so give them what they want, which is Obamacare full steam ahead. Stop throwing them bones with these tweaks and delays.
This just goes to show that Republicans and Democrats are on the same team and Washington is all one big single party farce.

If I were the GOP, I would issue an ultimatum...
Either fully implement ObamaCare in all its glory or repeal it entirely and go back to what we had before.
Using people's healthcare to play politics is disgusting.

Too late. The shite's already out of the bull.
There's no going back now without some sort of price controls imposed upon the insurance industry. And that won't (nor should it) happen.
Thanks, Obama.

I spoke to a lady who is the to dog in HR for a local small firm here in Huntsville. Approximately 250 employees. She said that she and a couple of co-workers have been to three training seminars regarding the implementation of the ACA and they still aren't 100% solid on the implications it has for her company.
Yep. THAT shite is obviously awesome from a jobs perspective. Companies love to hire people in that kind of environment. Gamblers they are!!!

I think what they are hoping for is to delay the penalty until after the elections because they hope to not only extend control in the House but to gain control of the Senate so they can then start cancelling out some of this shite (instead of just delaying implementation).
The problem with this logic is that the more they deflect the full effects, the less incentive voters (with their short memories) will have to vote the pro-ACA Dems out.
