Die Hard has to be number 1 because of its influence. It practically invented the modern action movie.

Before I even saw the list, I said if Die Hard's not #1, then this list is junk.
Pretty solid list overall. I don't think the Indiana Jones movies are really action movies. I also think Predator and The Rock should be higher.

Horrible list. What constitutes an "Action" movie? Can a movie (such as Star Wars, Full Metal Jacket, or The Untouchables) fit into more than one genre?

I'd probably move Predator and Robocop up higher. They have the wrong Bourne. I don't even know if I would put the Avengers on the list (I'd put either X2 or Batman Returns, MAYBE...have to think about it). Face/Off...wtf? The Rock? I mean I like those films, but no.
I'd switch Point Break and Speed too. It's a weird list adding Crouching Tiger, which is a stretch, and not a single real War movie, which I guess is it's own genre, but still. I'd drop the comic movies, CTHD, and even consider dropping the science fiction films. But that's being genre puristic.
And if we aren't doing that, then the biggest miss.....
The Matrix should be in the Top 5 and probably push out Mad Max. That's a big oversight, no matter how overrated those films can be. There are fewer more influential films than the Matrix.
