Senate blocks Obama nominee for DOJ

The Senate blocked Mr. Adegbile on a 52-47 vote, with eight Democrats voting along with Republicans for the filibuster. One of those was Mr. Reid, who had to change to vote for the filibuster in order to be able to ask for an eventual re-vote — which he did.
No longer needing 60 votes for cloture didn't make a difference in this case.
Some Dems are running scared.

No surprise.
She was going to vote him in and then tweak him later.

Glad to see some people voted on principle rather than party.

Right after the mid-term elections in November, they'll bring it back up for a vote and all of these scumbag democrats will fall right back in goosestep with their Dear Leader and vote for this racist piece of sh!t.

Ummm, tell Reid that one doesn't have to be a racist to vote against Mel Watt. He's a scumbag.

It is incredible that Mary Landrieu voted for this nominee, particularly since these seven Democrats joined the Republicans in opposing this nomination. This is like a political death wish. It will be amazing if the Republican challenger can't take advantage of this and Landrieu's votes on Obamacare and other aspects of Obama's legislative agenda. Fair or not, in this instance she will be painted as supporting a nominee who defended a cop killer. More broadly, she will be painted as a unquestioning advocate for a president who is very unpopular in Louisiana.
The same goes for Kay Hagan (North Carolina), who is going to join Landrieu as toast if they can't break the perception that they are mindless robots supporting Obama's presidential agenda.

Another albatross to hang around her neck. Of course, ads could work the opposite, as she is well aware that getting the Black vote out, is critical. She made the right Political decision.
Targeted ads, in the right places, will be key.

She and Pryor must have nice, fat lobbying jobs lined up. She must know she's going to lose.
Edit> didn't see that Pryor voted against him. Pryor's still toast though, after his comment about military service.

That wasn't principle. That was pure unadulterated fear.
And from what I'm hearing the Dems are pretty angry with Obama for sending up such a risky vote. You never ever do that to your own party. He has no relationship with the Dems on the Hill. It's incredible.

Why do they do this? Are they not aware that he has a list of 500 people just like the nominee?
