Looking for something that will be manageable and grow and provide shade in my lifetime unlike an oak.

I believe I have elm trees and didn't lose any branches. My neighbors pine was destroyed this morning. I was picking on him as I left for work this morning.

Eta: they dump some fricking leaves in the winter though. In Cinco I think you are only allowed elm, pine, or some type of oak in your front yard.

Sycamores grow fast but some people don't like their big leaves.

Just want something that will grow quickly. An oak is pointless. By the time it peaks I will be fertilizing it.

Had a bradford pear limb on my car this morning in west houston, luckily no real damage. Had some other pine limbs down around as well
