If all goes well I'll have a new to me boat this weekend. That means I need to sell my old motor -2011 Yamaha F50. Light wear ( not missing any paint and stored inside. 50 hours max.) Paid 6200 for it with controls and SS prop, What would be a good asking price? 4500 and hope for 4000? To low or high..... help me out!

Honestly, I think you can do better than that. I suggest getting on Craigslist or Ebay and price some similar motors for sale.
Now, if it was a 40 hp tiller, I'd tell you it isn't worth $1000, and I'd be there to pick it up tomorrow...but I can't use a fitty.

I have no clue how the market is on used outboards, but based on suggested NADA value I'd probably list it at $5000 or $5500 and go from there.

Found one on sale here: LINK
They're asking over 7K, maybe you're too low.
If you're in no hurry to sell, I'd start high and work my way down.

Just used that site to price my two small tillers. An '85 Yammy 2 SK listed 600, while my '93 8 horse Merc' was only at 450. Don't make much sense to me

Maybe check out ebay.
Might be a good indicator.
Good luck!

Search ebay, CL, hull truth, any other classified for similair models. See what peopke are asking andvtgen try to figure out what is actually selling.

quote:Come on, man. Then what are they gonna do with it? They're gonna sell it to make money, which means they aren't going to give YOU what it's really worth, because they're going to try to get out of it what it's worth. List it for $5500 and see what happens. You're undervaluing it at $4500, unless you just want it gone super fast. Get what it's worth, man. I wouldn't take any less than $5200 for it unless I was desperate.
