It's based on the fiat panda which, for like 15 years or so, was a very capable off-road vehicle. The jeepster and jeep commando were small off-road vehicles too. This vehicle is getting a lot of hate from the jeep people but, in my opinion, it's unwarranted. I just hope fiat has the foresight to finally release a truck on the jeep platform.

Don't knock the Italians- check out old pictures of the Lamborghini 002. The ultimate offroad vehicle was already done in the 80's, and no one caught up!

You don't think it has to do with Jeep being owned by Fiat, an italian car company? Italian-born Chrystler CEO Sergio Marchionne has been deeply involved in their Jeep division.
