Headed down from Athens to see UGA-LSU Saturday afternoon and then headed over to see LSU-Purdue at Alex Box after.

We have never been to Baton Rouge (damn SEC schedule) but would love some advice on anything special we should do - I would look at past posts but obviously most of those are from football season and obviously that's a bit different of an atmosphere.

The two things we've really looked at wanting to do were Fleur De Lis Pizza and seeing Mike's Habitat - and also whatever type of night life LSU has...

Bars/Nightlife:
Tigerland, specifically Freds if you are looking for college nightlife.
-pelican house, good crowd good food
-downtown is also close to lsu if you want to give that a try.

See mike's cage, Alex Box is fun.

Get dinner at Chimes or crawfish at Sammy's. Crawfish will be expensive but worth it, expect a wait there.

if you can find some boiled crawfish, consider getting some. It's gonna be $$$ this time of year because it's so early in the season, but if this is your one shot, do it.

Go to the Chimes. If I ever have to make one recommendation to someone going to BR, it's that and it has never disappointed.

Never had a meal that was other than superb with a beer selection really unmatched with restaurants that offers similarly high level grub.

FYI, bring cash, they don't accept cards.

what rate did you get at the Comfort Suites?

Baton Rouge Marriott is only $99/night. Much nicer property. It's right down the street off College.

Chimes is a great choice. It is very close to the PMAC. BBQ Shrimp was a great suggestions earlier, and I also suggest blackened gator.
As for Sammy's and crawfish you will have an insanely long wait.

And don't get caught drinking anything and driving in BR. Checkpoints happen often and the cops will run you thru the ringer whether you are drunk or not.

I'd say best list of things to do

1 - Either Chimes or Parrains (restaurants). Chimes is right off campus and is more an LSU staple.

2. walk around campus. Would be easy to park at Chimes walk around campus (see mike the tiger, parade grounds, some of the architecture) then go to dinner.

3. You could hit up some LSU tailgating for the baseball game if you have time. Normally pretty decent crowds out there and Im sure people would feed you and or give you a beer.

4. Bar scene - If you are looking for college LSU stuff, hit up Tigerland. Freds or Bogies would be your best bet. I'd possibly hit Walkons if you wanted before going out just because it's always hopping around baseball games because it's walking distance from the Box.

If you want something for the older crowd (21-40s type) then downtown BR on 3rd street has some pretty good places. You can walk inbetween them so its pretty cool. Nothing quite like the bar scene at UGA but still can be fun.

It is also parent weekend. Expect a lot of people driving around campus with no idea of where they are going.
