this is the best promotion i've ever seen... what better way to show fans how good the big leaguers actually are, even on the crappy teams
that being said, i think at least one random fan does go yard... (no D1 college or pro players allowed to hit, and you only get two pitches and one swing with a wood bat off of a pitching machine)
the promotion is march 15th...

Win Win for the Padres...they get free pub and they won't have to give anything away. Brilliant!

There's going to be a lot of roided up softball world champs out there being humbled.

seeing as their own players have trouble doing this, I'd say it's a pretty safe promotion for the Padres.

1 swing?! That'll never get done. shite, give em 5-10 outs. Make it more interesting. Wood bats probably have more pop than college bats, if you square em up. I went yard in a men's wood bat league last year. If you connect, it'll fly.

With one pitch? Easily? bullshite.
The guys in the HR derby (you know, some of the best HR hitters for that season) have trouble connecting on one on the 1st pitch.

i'm sure there's that stat somewhere for the % of HRs hit on the first two pitches or the first swing of an at-bat

No, no they wouldn't.

quote:Yes, yes they would. They literally hit homeruns at will. That is what they train to do. They are so good at it they limit the amount of times they are allowed to. They would hit 15-20 a round. Doesnt mean they are better at baseball. Same idea of the long drive champions outdriving the pros in golf
No, no they wouldn't.

In slow pitch softball using aluminum bats.

I guess there setting the pitching machine at down and away curveballs

most of those softball players would beat most mlb players in a homerun derby.

yea cause a softball swing and baseball swing aren't totally different or anything
