Dexter or House of Cards

Wanting to start a new series on Netflix and torn between the two. Watched the first episode of Dexter last night and wasn't real enthused. Does it get better or should I start House of Cards?

HOC was great. I watched 3 or 4 episodes of dexter and couldn't get into it.

House of Cards because you will catch up faster.
Seasons 1,2, and 4 of dexter are amazing though. The rest are average/below-average.

I haven't seen HOC but I have seen Dexter. I would recommend HoC hands down.

HOC would probably be much less of a time investment if that plays into your decision at all. I don't know that much about Dexter, but HOC is a really solid show. A lot of political intrigue if you're into that kind of thing with a little extra craziness thrown in.

HoC is a better series with political intrigue. And requires much less time investment.
That said, Dexter was a lot of fun until the last two seasons.

if you would have asked this 3 or 4 years ago (allowing HOC to still exist) I would have said Dexter, but it went about 4 seasons too long. Start HOC and then watch seasons 1-4 of Dexter.

It really is true. I watch the first 5 seasons of Dexter, then stopped. Over the past couple of months I've been watching the rest.
