Now that the Combine is over, who do you think is a likely #1 for us?

I'm going with CB Jason Verrett from TCU. Ran a 4.38 in the 40, looked good in the drills. High character kid according to his coaches.

We need a corner and Gilbert and Dennard will be gone by the time we pick.

Odell Beckham and Brandin Cooks might be there when we pick, but I think we can get a good WR later in the draft.

Verrett is short, a shade under 5'10, but I think he can start for us opposite Lewis.

Who ya got?

Honestly after all the discussion of how deep this draft is, I want to trade back. Acquire as many 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks as possible.

I definitely am leaning towards a WR or CB, couldn't tell ya which one though so many good ones. I definitely would be interested in Verrett, Cook, or OBJ.

I also think Kelvin Benjamin will be an absolute stud in the NFL if he goes to a team with a good program set up.

I don't like the 27th pick. I want a bunch of 2nd and 3rd round picks

I wouldn't be mad at that.

Problem with trading back is everyone will want to do that since it's no secret how loaded the talent pool is.

Might have no choice but to stick where we are.

Besides, there's going to be a faller. That guy that goes unbelievably low for his ranking because someone ran a fast 40. Like if Beckham becomes a top 10 pick, that means a Mike Evans or Dennard could slip rigght there for the taking.

In the guess the pick, not the who you want or think they should category Verrett would be in the very high chance I think. They could go with CB Roby or Roberson too. Depends much on how they see the skillset matching Ryan's scheme.

If we don't see any significant veteran safety signed then Haha or Pryor could rank right there with a CB.

Same thing for RT, tho I do think they will get a deal done with Strief. If they don't though, there could be someone that could fill RT and then slide over to guard replacing Grubbs or Evans in the future.

The Saints go BPA strongly but need does play into the equation. I can't see WR if there are gaping positional holes with starters at those spots on the board. We'll have this defined much more precisely after free agency.

Yea Roberson is a nice fit with Ryans scheme. Didnt have a great day at the combine, but on the field hes really good. And thats all that matters to me.

If Jordan Matthews is there at 27, I want.

But I have no problem trading back and getting picks.

Roby maybe, but Roberson ran a 4.66 today. He might be there in round 2, but no way I see him as our pick in round 1.

It would be nice if Clinton-Dix fell to us. If not, I'd be happy with Verrett, Dennard or Joyner

Gilbert dreams are officially dead
pending top needs in no particular order are Safety, Corner, WR, C, RT

Center is not a 27 concern
resigning Strief would eliminate need for a 27 selection
CB is deep in FA this year I would expect a splash there in some way also pushing this need down our draft board for a later selection

leaving our needs at a starting calber Safety Pryor and Haha or WR Evans, Benji, Matthews as most pressing likely canidates that fit what I am looking for as an armchair GM.

BPA is always a possibility as well however there is no way of telling who would become a faller prior to it happening draft day

overreacting to the combine numbers in a negative tense prior to pro days would be immature as well. 4.5 today could be low 4.4 in a months time.

Post Combine the CB class looks very deep. The #3 or 4 one @ #27 this year might be the type the could be a mid 1st Rder most years.

Dix & Pryor at 4.58 moved their stock down if anything IMO. Both could conceivably be on the board at #27. So ya could have a choice of the #1 or 2 safety or the #3 or 4 CB.

Who they sign in free agency will say a lot how that decision could play out.

I agree with Verrett. Pryor would be a good pick. Last WR we took in the first was Meacham, which was by most accounts a suprise (and not a good one), unless one of the big 3 are there, we go secondary I think.

Running a 4.58 wont have any impact on those 2's stock.

Is there any chance Moseley drops all the way down to us? That would be a solid BPA and future to hold down the heart of the defense.
