Someone told me the Cajuns are ranked?? Give me some insight on the team before they play LSU this week.

South fan here. They're a better team than they were last year. This is their season to run at the SBC title and see how much damage they do post season. Offense is still strong and their pitching is better this year I think.

once they get a groove going, the offense is really solid. inconsistent at times, as they drew 11 K's on Friday night against Southern Miss (they were facing Southern Miss' ace FWIW). pitching was a bit shaky on opening weekend, but it's all coming together now. got a true freshman by the name of Regan Bazar who's fastballs register at 100 MPH.
who's LSU starting this week at pitcher? Cody Glenn?

Improved our starting pitching from last year for sure. Carson Baranik looks like the best number 2 starter we've had in a while, may be number 1 by the end of year. We have a better bullpen because Ryan Wilson doesn't have to start anymore, which also helps out our hitting because he's a solid outfielder and hits pretty well. Also added a true freshman, Reagan Bazar, who's 6'7 230 lbs and hit 100 mph on his first pitch in college who looks like he can be a good closer if he keeps his command.
Our hitting is dangerous again, we strike out too much because our batters are taught to be aggressive, so we have a high number of Ks but it's the reason why we hit so many homeruns last year. It seems like we're never really out of a game because a big inning is right around the corner. We only lost one bat from last year, probably our best one in Dex Kjerstad, but we added a big corner infielder Greg Davis and Evan Powell formerly of LSU and LSU-E who is playing some outfield and actually swinging it pretty well so far.
Strength on defense is right up the middle with Trahan at SS and Conrad 2nd, both guys have good gloves and good range. Seth Harrison is a very good defensive center fielder with good range and a strong arm (he was a reliever for us before elbow problems threw about 93 mph - may get to pitch later in the year). Compton is a good defensive first baseman if his bat lets him stay in games. Leonards is at 3rd which kind of makes me nervous because he's not always steady in the field, great bat though.
We need to figure out who our Sunday guy is. Milhorn and Boutte were kind of battling for that spot. Milhorn did well as the 3rd pitcher on opening weekend, Boutte pitched game 3 against Southern Miss and was pretty solid for about 5 innings. Milhorn is going to go against LSU on Tuesday so we should learn a lot more about him pretty soon.

what's the deal with Robe rotating out Strentz and Thurman at catcher? is it based on who's pitching? I know, probably a silly question..

I'll be pulling for the Cajuns on Tuesday

We're lucky enough to have two very solid catchers. I think Austin Robichaux feels more comfortable with Thurman so he'll probably start a lot of Fridays. Strentz can play the outfield and DH if need be so that Thurman can get some time.

Ahh got ya! Lots of versatility on that team. I see Ryan Wilson's been getting time in the outfield

Yeah he's been on fire. He's also a good outfielder, normally a center fielder, so our outfield becomes very good defensively when he's in the lineup.

Baseball America Poll just released.
Cajuns move up to #10 in the rankings.
Can't wait for the matchup against LSU Tuesday and the series at home against Alabama this weekend.

Almost a shame we aren't doing a weekend series with ULL so that we get to have our best pitchers against each other.

We did that. It's called the NCAA Regional. The best team won.
