Yea. Doesnt make sense to have them running in their underwear.

It's just false numbers to me. A very small % of these players actually run any of these numbers when suited up.

I'd like to see them do it in full pads.

No. They have game film to show how they look in pads.

So running in track attire shows what they can do on a football field? Have you ever played football before?

they use the information to compare it to other players. If they are all participating under the same exact variables, it doesn't matter what they wear.

Yea, but assuming the ratios stay the same is probably a poor assumption

you should let the NFL GM's and coaches know that they are just wasting time

I would say for the most part they would remain the same

Full pads effect some players more than others. You could have 2 guys that run the same time without pads and one runs faster in pads. It just seems odd that they continue to do these drills in spandex.

What does this have to do with running a professional football league or franchise? Have you ever paid millions of dollars to athletes before they have ever played a down for your organization? I did not think so.

See above post..that's what I was getting at with that question. The pads effect everyone differently. Running without them is not a 100% accurate number. Running in track shoes and underwear is not like running with football cleats/helmet/and pads.

One would think the NFL is sophisticated enough to extrapolate the run times to game situations.

and yet NFL coaches and GMs believe it is an effective way to evaluate players

the exact times aren't important.

it's more so the range they run in. So i dont think pads would change opinion much

Yeah, I guess. It would be interesting to see though. I'd be willing to bet there isn't a football player in the world who can run a sub 4.3 with pads/cleats/helmet on
