Do you feel like its safe to ride in BR? I have always wanted to get one but honestly am a little scared of the BR drivers. The other thread for me thinking about it again.

frick no.
I used to live near campus off of West Lee Drive. Every time I jumped on my bike the first thing I did was hit River Road and go south away from the distracted drivers that call Baton Rouge home.
If you want a real adrenaline rush, try navigating Government Street on a bike around evening rush hour.

It's as safe as riding in any other urban environment. Don't wear all dark gear. Make it easy to be seen. Pay attention to everything. Been riding in and around Baton Rouge since the '80s. Most of the bad stuff I've seen or heard about has been due to rider error, like that guy that made himself an organ donor on Seigen a few years back.
