Anybody here try both? What are some of the pros and cons of each service - no. of channels, DVR features, price, Internet speed etc.? Is it true that Uverse in general has slower speeds than Comcast?

Had comcast thought it was too expensive but never had an issue with service. Internet was unbelievably fast. Switch to Uverse. Much slower, horrible service. Only good thing I can say about Uverse is it has alot of channels available though I watch the same 5-6 so it's a waste for me.

Edit to say I have went through 4 remotes with Uverse.

everything I have seen has uverse much slower than comcast and much higher pings on average. I live in the boonies and have DSL but Uverse is about to come through in a month or so (or so they say). I am looking forward to the upgraded speed from what I have but I hope the ping doesnt go up any

Xfinity Internet is much faster than Uverse in the Houston area.

HD TV with both can be great. I finally got good Xfinity cable boxes and am happy - solid performance with no pixelation.

My dad lives nearby and has less trouble with Uverse TV than he had with Xfinity.

Xfinity lets you bring your own cable modem to save $7 / month.

Uverse is awful. The connection has reset three or four time within the last hour alone.

I have comcast because it is cheaper given the number of TVs I have.

Internet speed in the most important feature for me personally. I am used to 50MBPs on Xfinity for a while now. Everywhere I read people seem to have trouble with ATT's Internet. I am moving to a new place soon and have the option of going with Comcast, Uverse or Sonic (never heard of them) and I'm just weighing my options here.

Not that any of you care, but I'll just say that for business purposes, AT&T's Uverse modems are absolute fricking garbage. I much prefer Comcast. I've always had fast and reliable service from them.

For business with Comcast you can have a modem like a surfboard that is a true bridge, where you can manage your own router instead of being forced into using some shitty 2Wire appliance that can't handle more than 1 static IP. You get a block of 6 IPs but they're all NAT'd behind the one device, making the concept of the public IPs worthless...the only way to use 1 public on your router is some crap 1:1 NAT feature. fricking bullshite.

I was talking to some people about it, and one dude said that AT&T caps the amount of net it has so you can only go so fast....the server can't give out the speed everyone needs without casting.

This. Unless you are a gamer nerd who needs like 100 billion megs download speed for the internet, the answer is U-Verse and it isn't even close. Comcast is absolutely terrible.

Unless they're replacing the loop, Uverse in a current DSL area is just rebranded DSL. Don't think that its guaranteed to pick up speed. I've been replacing "DSL" with "Uverse" and its just DSL with a Uverse modem.

I agree. I loved Comcast internet when I had it but the tv sucked. For the price you pay you get a lot more with DirecTV. I didn't have much choice though since I was renting a place.
