I can open them in my history. i.e. excel or word. I can access them in files opened in the past month and open them. I can see where they are saved on my harddrive. But I cant open them from my harddrive.

Any help with this? Worst case scenario guess I open hundreds of files and save them all again. But it would be nice to not have to.

Seagate Free Agent GoFlex Pro 500 GB harddrive btw

Try one of these:

In excel or word: windows / unhide

In explorer (if you can) right click: Properties / uncheck "hide"

Are you saying that they are not visible from the HDD location or that they won't open when you click them?

They aren't visible. The only way so far that I've been able to find them is by looking at my previously opened documents in some other program, or when I open them via this method and try to save them, I can see the file path and all my other files.

eta: Some of the files won't open. Most will

Sometimes files don't wanna be found.

It's best to respect their desire for privacy.

Do you use some sort of software that auto backs u to the HDD or do you access it thru windows explorer?

my Seagate fricked up on deployment and all I could see were the folders that housed the files.

files themselves were just gone. even recuva didn't find shite.

first thing is open and save to external hard drive

Don't won't to be sinister but there are several sketchy reasons this may happen

Also do not run any utility programs in case the files have been malware moved to another folder.

Second, I hope you have a good virus and malware program- run it- not a fast scan but a deep scan

Do you work alot on non secure networks?

Any other "odd" incidents or problems lately?

What Device and OS system?

Do you sync with another device or run auto backup to another source?
