NAACP wants Rand Paul to speak By LUCY MCCALMONT | 2/21/14 5:56 PM EST Updated: 2/21/14 6:56 PM EST The NAACP has offered Republican Sen. Rand Paul the opportunity to speak to the organization, with the its interim president saying, “We’d love to have him.” In an interview taped for C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” that will air Sunday, Lorraine Miller said she was interested in hearing more about the “Economic Freedom Zones” that the Kentucky senator has pushed. “We’d love to talk with him about it and work with him on it,” Miller said, adding that her comments amounted to an invitation to Paul to address the group. A top Paul aide said the senator is game. “Senator Paul is pleased to hear that the NAACP would like to work with him on reforms like economic freedom zones and he would be honored to address the organization,” Doug Stafford, a senior adviser to Paul said. Paul announced Friday that he will be visiting Simmons College, a historically black college in his state, on Monday. He previously spoke at Howard University in Washington last spring. ...

How can democrats smear a guy like Rand at this point?
They really have nothing on him.
They really have nothing on him.

Are they going to give him a list of acceptable words and banned phraseology, or are they just going to make up their outrage de-jour after the fact.
If anyone can pull it off it is Paul though.
More power to him - hope he speaks the rock solid truth to them though.
I'll be severely disappointed if he panders in the slightest.

don't do it! It is a waste. There are no blacks in the rust belt, and that is the area of the country the GOP needs to focus on! Most blacks live in GOP states, anyway .

Rand will win at least 30 percent of black vote.

I just hope he doesn't ask Hillary Clinton or Al Gore to teach him how to sound black
He'll be okay. I watched his speech at the hbcu. The audience was kind of meh, but Rand just did his thing. Gave a good speech.

You can't reach those who disagree witn you without talking to those who disagree with you.

Still will vote D but maybe it will also have a few thinking. I'm guessing some of the younger ones will actually listen. The older crowd, D or R, white or black, will always be stuck in the past and no one can change their mind. Closed mindedness is not a color thing more like a generational thing. When you been a certain way for so long not much will change you.

I don't know what's funner.
30 percent or saying "at least".
Choices...

This is great.
And this shouldn't be a surprise. I mean, why in the f' does it seem so difficult for white politicians (especially GOP politicians) to address black organizations?

30 percent at least would obviously be insane. But it makes damn good sense for Rand Paul and other Republicans to try and make some inroads with voters who traditionally do not side with them. Nothing lasts forever as far as voting blocs are concerned.

I think 30 is too high but I did predict 20% a few months ago (and I'm sticking with it).

He's using Cinton's trianglation, condemn the far left loonies & the far right and it makes you look like a centrist, actually it was Dick Morris's plan.
I like R.P.

He doesn't have to pander, he just needs to focus on points of agreement. There's no point in him leading with his chin.
