That's Ervin Santana and Nelson Cruz....
How much would this improve them after signing Jimenez the other day?

still, at best, the 4th most likely team to win the east. neither is that good, especially cruz.

At best? Have you seen how crappy the Yankees infield is? I think the O's are solidly the 3rd place team in the East, and they need some luck to make the top 2.

Cruz would help, but that's not the issue. 2nd base. Pitching. More pitching after that. Still think the O's should have bit the bullet on Cano.

well, i certainly think they could finish higher than the yankees, but if i had to rank the teams now i would put them 4th or 5th.

With a stable DH they're as good as NYY and Tampa.

Yeah, but "at best" is what got me. At best, they win the East. Finishing third doesn't even require anything crazy to happen.

I just meant I would still rank them no higher than 4th in order of highest odds to win the AL East as of now. Baseball is funny game, they could definitely win the east if things break right. I'd give them maybe a 5-10% chance of winning the east.

If Ubaldo of 2011 I believe shows up, Gonzales improves and Gausman as insurance I think they may have an average pitching staff to go along with their good hitting. I can see them finishing in front of the Yankees.

I can't imagine prime Ubaldo ever coming back, but really who the hell knows with that guy. The AL East certainly doesn't seem like a prime division for him. Alot of patient hitters.

Curious to see what the O's do with Gausman to start the year. Is Ubaldo going to push him out the rotation?

I think if Gausman has a really good spring it might be possible they move Bud Norris to the pen. They did if to Tommy Hunter and Matusz and that turned out well for them. It makes the most sense. Gausman needs MLB experience.

I agree. He really is the only guy on the staff that has true ace potential IMO. At least until Bundy is ready.

Plus Norris seems better equipped for the pen with his platoon problems anyway. Lefties absolutely murder that guy.

Jimenez the second half of last year was pretty damn good, if that guy shows up he could be the anchor

Wow. They're becoming the Blue Jays from a year ago. Hopefully it works out for them... looks great on paper.

Not a bad deal really, short term only 8million. I think they should still sign another pitcher. Bundy won't be back till June/July and I doubt they let him pitch in the majors anyway

It's a great deal. I think they need to sign another pitcher as well. As great as their lineup looks, there's still question marks surrounding their rotation. If they were to make it into the playoffs, I couldn't count on any of them to win a big ball game. They're missing that ace. If the Philles fall out of contention early, I'd push hard for Cliff Lee.
