Officials said the president of the Livingston Parish School Board was sentenced to a suspended 90-day jail term after pleading no contest Friday to hit and

A representative with the Office of the Louisiana Attorney General reported Malcolm Sibley pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor hit and run charge in connection with a deadly crash that happened June 15, 2013 in St. Helena Parish.

Judge Bob Morrison also sentenced Sibley to two years of probation, a $500 fine and court costs. Sibley was ordered to complete four 8-hour days of community service, complete a court-approved defensive driving course and pay a $50 monthly monitoring fee to probation and parole.

The crash happened on LA 43 north of Greensburg in St. Helena Parish on Saturday, June 15 around 5 a.m. William "Cody" Iasigi, 21, of Liberty, MS, was killed. Authorities said Iasigi stopped his truck on the roadway and was hit when he got out.

LSP reported their investigation showed Sibley was the driver of the vehicle that hit Iasigi and continued on after the crash. Investigators said additional evidence and witness statements indicated the victim's truck was probably on or across the double yellow line when the wreck happened.

Troopers also reported Iasigi had a blood alcohol level of .22 percent. The legal limit in Louisiana is .08 percent.

The AG's office said Sibley was arrested in connection with the hit and run for not stoppiLINK , but was not at fault or the cause of the accident itself.

If all he did was get drunk and not stop, the sentence seems about right.

Same sh*t happened to my brother last night (without the fatality part). Got hit and the chick burned off. He chased down the methhead woman (driving an F250 strangely enough) and got the cops there as well.

She had an ankle monitor on and somehow didn't even go to jail. Houston Police for ya

Let's be fair. The other driver was the one who was drunk (the victim), and he apparently was across the centerline.

Sorry. Got that mixed up. The H&R makes more sense with Sibley being drunk.

So he's just a dick and didn't stop? I wonder why. Normally, I'd say the sentence seemed a little steep, but not stopping when you have no fear of guilt is just heartless.

So basically, trashy folks tragically ran into each other late one night in rural Louisiana. Go figure.
