I'm trying to get to to better shape. I'm not really fat or anything, I have a gut.

I'm not doing anything crazy. I just want to get into a routine. I'm running a bit everyday and just trying to so some sit ups and push ups and stuff, eat better.

But when I try to do sit-ups/crunches. I'll do then in sets of 20. Till I get to about 100. Then immediately when I sit up or stand up I have the worst, sharpest pain ever imaginable in my ab region.

Is that normal? Does it go away after a while? Just want to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong and potentially hurt myself bad

Thanks

Sounds to me like you need to quit being a pussy

Hate to be cliche, but no pain, no gain

When I first started working out that was the amount I was doing and I never got any pains.... I do more now, still nothing.

Maybe you pulled something?

Maybe your labia?

It's cramps right?

You're pretty much shocking your fat that has no muscle on it

Yeah like extreme cramps.

I can deal with it. As long as there's nothing medically wrong. And it doesn't do that forever

if it doesn't hurt, you're doing it wrong

How many times have you worked your abs and how long ago? The greatest soreness you will experience is generally 2 days after you work a muscle when you first start out. If you worked your abs on Wednesday for the first time and tried to work them again today this pain would not surprise me. You also could have torn a muscle but that shouldn't happen doing crunches.

I haven't done real workouts in a couple months at least honestly

But the pain is IMMEDIATELY after I work them. When I stand up. That's why I was worried. I did the workout a couple days ago and the same thing happened.

I know what normal soreness from working out is. But this is just right after I do it. So that why I was worried/curious

It's normal because you're just now starting to integrate fitness into your lifestyle.

It takes 21 days to make a habit of something and anywhere from 1-3 months to not be as sore as when you first started.

I don't know about those two stats. I believe it takes longer thn 21 days for something to become a habit and you should not be sore for even a month if you are training properly.

I thought it was 14 days in a row to make it a habit. And you shouldn't be sore after the same type of workout in a week at the latest. If you're constantly going up (reps, weight, distance, etc), then that's a different story.

I believe these are all arbitrary numbers that do not apply to everyone. There is an over repeated rumor that in order to ingrain muscle memory something must be doen 5,000 times. I know this to be false as I have seen great athletes pick up movements without thought in far less thn 5,000 reps and I have seen others take longer.

If you're just starting out, your body might just be going through some shock treatment. Just stretch your abs (push up position but keep your hips pushing to the floor, neck long, head back) after each set of 20 or whatever you do.

Is it localized anywhere or just general ab pain?
Does it hurt worse or feel better when you push on it?
How long till it goes away?
You any other problems with it like nausea or weird shits?
