Ranking the NFL Owners

Do you agree with this list?
NFC South
quote:
1. Dan Rooney (Pittsburgh Steelers) – While the entire Rooney family carries on the football tradition in Pittsburgh, Dan is the man at the top. And he continues to operate what is arguably the most stable franchise in all of pro sports.
2. Robert Kraft (New England Patriots) – Yes, he got lucky when his team landed Tom Brady in the sixth round. Yes, there is some controversy surrounding their winning ways. But the Pats are the model franchise in the NFL, all on Kraft’s watch.
3. Paul Allen (Seattle Seahawks) – Allen seemingly has infinitely deep pockets, the result of being a co-founder of Microsoft. And he’s used his money wisely, bringing in Pete Carroll to resurrect the franchise, which led to a Super Bowl victory.
4. Board of Directors (Green Bay Packers) – The only publicly owned franchise in pro sports is unique. But it seems to work, as a seven-member Executive Committee makes big decisions and president Mark Murphy makes day-to-day calls.
5. Pat Bowlen (Denver Broncos) – The Broncos track record for winning under Bowlen’s 30-year watch is sterling; the man who signs the checks and sets the “Super Bowl or bust” mentality in Denver deserves a ton of credit for that.
NFC South
quote:
9. Arthur Blank (Atlanta Falcons) – The man who made his money starting Home Depot has done a great job rebuilding the Falcons. Good hires, including general manager Thomas Dimitroff and head coach Mike Smith, were the key.
quote:
15. Jerry Richardson (Carolina Panthers) – The only owner the Panthers have had has resided over both good times and bad. He seems too content, however, to wait for good fortune to come Carolina’s way, as they aren’t a very aggressive franchise.
quote:
22. Malcolm Glazer (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – At one point, Glazer was considered a rising star amongst owners. That’ll happen when you win a title with a historically cellar-dwelling team. But the past decade-plus have been very lean years.
quote:
24. Tom Benson (New Orleans Saints) – Yes, the Saints are a good team now. But that’s because Drew Brees fell into their laps. That doesn’t erase the years of ineptitude that Benson has been at the helm for during his tenure as owner.

how is that luck? it's good scouting
this list is a joke. owners aren't that involved in day to day operations. that's why they hire GMs

Harsh. Definitely shouldn't be at the top, but should be more middle of the pack. He's done a good job of staying out of the way. No way should he be below Jerry Jones.

Saintstards assemble.
They use the same justification for the falcons and the saints one for a positive and one for a negative.

Unfortunately, the Dolphins have one of the worst owners. Dammit...

the top five is a good list, but the reasons why are retarded. outside of the too 5, the list is a joke

Well, he did make the hire that made the draft pick.
Plus, he was picked up in the 6th. That is great scouting to see his potential, but it isn't very common for that late of a draft pick to become a future hall of fame qb.
Just because of the reasoning, or which owners are ranked where too?

im not about to defend Benson in any way shape or form, but the criteria for the list seems to blame the perceived "bad" owners for all the down times while giving them none of the credit for the good times.
Benson has hired a good GM and stayed the frick out of his way. He's also shelled out for a damn good coach. Those points should be given equal weight to any bad decisions he has made.

the reasons are a joke, but the list is a joke after the top 5.
blank is number 9 for rebuilding the falcons and making 2 good hires, yet benson is near the bottom for rebuilding the saints and signing brees. that's retarded.

I agree with the top 5. I don't have an opinion on the rest.

they use the same reason to say blank is great to say benson sucks. that's laughable.

yep
end of the day, rings are all that matter. thus benson > blank
unfortunately that makes jerrah > most everyone else too

I think the difference is Blank has only had the team since 2002. So over half of the time owning the franchise, he has had the Smith and Dimitroff combo. While Smith has not shown to have a good post season, he is good in the regular season and a major improvement from what was there before.

benson has Peyton, loomis, brees, and a Super Bowl ring.
someone with a ring is not near the bottom of owners when your objective is to win rings

el oh el. Benson has been a great owner who has shelled out the cash. He's rebuilt the entire area around the superdome.

22. Malcolm Glazer (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) – At one point, Glazer was considered a rising star amongst owners. That’ll happen when you win a title with a historically cellar-dwelling team. But the past decade-plus have been very lean years.
wait, so why is he ahead of Benson?

but Benson doesn't get credit for Sean Payton or Drew Brees?

I'm sure he does, just like he gets credit for seasons from 1993-1999.

Benson is far from a "great" owner and a large % of these improvements are on the taxpayer dime, not his.

Just one thing to put into consideration, only 1 of those owners still has their team playing in a stadium that is 20+ years old.

This is such a retarded concept
