Questions about fishing nearshore rigs

Specifically those within the state waters (out no more than 3 miles). What kind of gamefish species would be there in the summer time? I've caught drum, trout, sheephead, etc. there before, but usually when we go offshore, its out further than 3 miles. This is for a research project.
TIA

I'm thinking that generally the later you are in the summer, the higher the salinity, thus, the more species of typical "offshore" fish make it to the "close" rigs.
I've had guides tell me that every now and then, the lemonfish make it all the way up into Big Lake in August sometimes.
The times I've been the close rigs off Johnson's Bayou, it's always been mid/late summer, and we generally catch just trout, spanish, with the occasional mangrove snapper thrown in. stuff like that.

yep, trout seems to be the most common in the summer from what I gather, but the problem is I have to go to a few platforms across the whole state in water depths from 12-feet to 120-feet!We supposed to pick like 2 or so species to catch at each platform

State waters extend to 9 nautical miles now in LA

Not sure about SWLA, but near Grand Isle and on the East side of the River, you can get into Pompano at the near shore rigs. Triple Tail too... On buoys and floating debris as well.

The historic gulfward boundary of the state of Louisiana extends a distance into the Gulf of Mexico three marine leagues from the coastline. For the purposes of this Part, "three marine leagues" is equal to nine geographic miles or 10.357 statute miles.

There's the specific reg/rule confirming what I said about 9 nautical miles (well technically nautical miles are 1852 meters and geographic meters are 1855.4 meters but close enough).
