Will Porcupine Tree put out new music?

Or since Stephen Wilson's so caught up in his solo stuff, are they done for good?
As I sit here listing to Deadwing, I sure as hell hope they're not through. S.W.'s solo stuff is pretty good, but it's not the same without the rest of the guys from P.T.

I don't see why they wouldn't put anything else out. I'll never get tired of listening to Gavin Harrison on the drums. IMO he's been the highlight of their last few albums.

Last year Wilson said that they are on an indefinite hiatus. That's a shame, really, because I like the PT stuff much better than his solo work. Gavin Harrison may be the best drummer out there today, and he is missing from much of SW's stuff. And yes, I do realize he writes the PT tracks as well, but you can hear the difference that the rest of the bands contributions make compared to him flying it alone.

I couldn't agree more.

I believe you meant to say Blank Planet FTW. Consider this me correcting your typo.
Anesthetize is sick. Might be Gavin's best drumming

Steven has said that if PT returns it will be with a retooled lineup and sound. Not sure how that would work out, but it is more keeping with the spirit of the band. Basically the only membership change since it became a full band was swapping Chris Maitland for Gavin Harrison. That said, PT started out as a SW solo project (almost a joke) with Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape. Richard Barbieri is really where it started to become a serious project.
As much as I love the progressive albums, the old pop albums still hold a special place in my heart. Maybe he returns to a little more song-oriented direction with PT, which would certainly serve to refocus the group.

Your taste is yours. I prefer In Absentia and Deadwing over Fear of a Blank Planet. I'll agree that Gavin let loose on it, but the songs just didn't hold up as well in my opinion. The Incident is really the only album in the entire catalog that I don't care much for. It's much better in 5.1 than stereo, but I still never really got into it.

I like the Incident, but it is nowhere near as good as previous work. Originally it was meant to be a one track album, but then he decided to cut it into individual 2 minutes ones. It was a little too much cleverness in my opinion. With that said, I Drive The Hearse is one of my favorite songs by them.

That's how I feel about it. It basically epitomizes the pretentiousness of progressive rock.

Still haven't gone threw The Incident entirely.
I love FOABP album just as much.
Trains was my wife and Is song of choice to dance to at our wedding. Its a main reason why I side with In Absentina. Heart Attack in a Lay-by makes for a good alarm clock song.

interesting choice. Very cool! I've always been a fan of the unknown and different wedding song. I'm getting married in 2 weeks in Hawaii. We were going to do a reception a month later, and the three songs we were picking between are Jeff Buckly "Everybody Here Wants you", Lamb "Goreki", and Radiohead's version of "Nobody Does It Better." We aren't doing the reception now (too expensive), so there will be no song. Anyway, maybe I got a little too personal here, but your post brought this to the forefront of my mind

If I was a girl, that song would make me wet.

Ha! There is truth to your statement, considering this happens to my fiance. This was our final choice until we scrapped the reception idea. The lyrics are freaking gorgeous; JB is one of the true greats.
