“A lot of people ask me, you know, do I miss much about being president,” Bush said. “The answer’s really no. I mean I miss the people I served with. I miss Air Force One. In eight years, they never lost my baggage. …

“I do miss saluting men and women who volunteered to defend our nation during the war,” Bush said. “Many are coming home and are preparing for new missions as civilians, and I intend to salute these men and women for the rest of my life.”

You're a good man, Mr. President.

I still don't think he is a terrible person, but that is a BS politician response if I've ever seen one.

Bush was one of our nation's most sincere commander in chiefs. Compare him to the smug little frick that preceded him.

I think he meant well. He might have been an alright president without the psychopathic Cheney pulling the strings.

Bush has had great respect for our military members long before even being Governor. He isn't saying this for show.

I remember reading a story about how he saluted wounded veterans when visiting them in the hospital and waited for them to complete their salute.

the explanation was lower ranking members of the military had to wait for their salute to be reciprocated before lowering their own salute and he was basically saying the wounded vets were higher rank than him.

never been in the military so I dunno if this is bullshite or not but it sounded cool

Has there ever been a POTUS who was not?

I think Bush - both of them - were as non partisan in their official persona than any in my lifetime.

They are certainly heads and shoulders above any DEM president in that time frame.

Both are true gentlemen.

I miss them.

Meh. He's still responsible for sending thousands of them overseas to serve as cannon fodder.

shite, I would miss Air Force One too. That's one hell of a perk being President gets you.

You get this all to yourself...

pretty much this. I don't think he had evil intentions, he was just led astray.

I think the same thing about obama. I do think Obama is a tad more incompetent than bush, from the executive side, but I believe he is acting in the best interest of the country (even if I disagree).

Now cheney, frick him. He had bad intentions and is the closest thing to evil I have seen.

History will remember him as an above average President. Say what you will about him, but he loves this country. Not like the current occupant of the office.

I see that W. was a Transgender friendly President. Oh, Sorry that's Barbara Bush.

He can still salute soldiers . Weak answer ,but he is probably tired of the question anyway.
