Thinking about putting one on mine. Brother put one on his Tundra and he says he's getting 1.5-2mpg more. I can see a little better pick up but not that much.

Also, can not find the K&N for a 2012 Sequoia but can the 2012 Tundra. Should be exactly the same correct? Engines are the same.

Thanks

Don't get a K&N. Have you ever wondered why they say it works better when dirty? It's because you can see through the damn thing when it is clean

Get an Air raid, AEM, aFe, Volant, S&B, TRD, etc. If you drive in dusty conditions, get a paper filter. Otherwise, you can use their regular ones

99% useless, especially on newer trucks. Why would truck manufactures design an air filter that does a poor job filtering AND get worse MPG?

Sure some filters may breathe better and/or filter better, but for performance, no.

I am gonna disagree. They do what is easy, what is out of the way, and what will last longest without breaking. Protect the bottom line

They help, but not nearly as much as if you also have a programmer. I could see an extra 5-15rwhp out of a good one, depending on how bad the factory one is.

Most of the factory exhausts aren't mandrel bent. Aftermarket ones are. Think about the flow differences between the two

Exactly.
You may have negligible increase in mpg, but it wouldn't make up the cost of a new intake. Many people see worst gas mileage because you see a slight increase in pickup and a "cool" sound which causes drivers to use more gas.

It is also easier to buy a new filter from autozone instead of maintaining your custom intake filter.

I know you know this, but I am going to say it anyways.
Out of the following mods (all bolt on) a CAI is by far the most useless: CAI, upgraded fuel rails, headers, high flow cats, tuner, upgraded cam, and gear change.

This is just off the top of my head and can all be done for roughly the same price. Granted, the gears and cam are about twice as expensive but net much more than a CAI ever could.

Thats more of where I was going with my previous statement.

Are you familiar with the Ram HD new air box?

With manifolds none of this matters.

And before anybody uses this excuse "If they don't do anything, why do they sell so many?", Ill remind everyone that Justin Bieber is a millionaire and sells out ever show he performs at.

Just because something/one is popular, doesn't mean shite.

Toyota's OEM air filters are quality product. I rinse mine out, let it dry and reuse. Have 195K miles on mine.

On a gas engine, an intake, exhaust, and programmer would probably achieve 50rwhp and 3mpg depending on the tune and same driving habits. The stock intake being restrictive is the same as the exhaust being restrictive. I could be talking out of my arse right now because I have a pretty heavy studying buzz going on.

Haven't seen the new ram intakes

You can increase some serious HP with an Intake, programmer, exhaust and custom tune on an EcoBoost

Almost 100% has to do with the design of their exhaust

I have the airraid Jr intake system on my silverado. I like it because it uses the stock air box. It out preformed the more expensive cone intake systems on the dyno as well.

Here's the thing.

you can't get better mileage out of a cold air intake. Maybe more peak horsepower, but not better mpg.

Cold air intake theoretically lets a greater mass of air into the engine. but unless you're running at wide-open-throttle, the amount of air let in is set by the throttle (that big metal flap in the air flow), not by the air filter.
