I'm tired of fixing my Chevy so I've decided when it comes out the shop this time it's getting replaced. I don't know if I want another Chevy or if I want a ford with the ecoboost. I don't care about the gas mileage, they're all about equal no matter what the specs say. I like a truck that's fast and RELIABLE. I know the ecoboost is fast but is it reliable? My friends keep telling me not to get the ford but that's because they're all Chevy fans, not because they have real experience owning a ford.

Buy a 2013 ford XLT that is new. There may just be several threads on this if you look down a page or two.

Be sure to make a few salesmen piss up a rope and the world will be your oyster.

I don't have many acquaintances with any ecos higher mileage than that

I just traded a 2007 Suburban for a 2013 F150 with ecoboost and couldn't be happier. The fit and finish in a Ford is night and day difference. I was starting to have problems with my Active fuel management and the lifters on the suburban. GM has known about the issue on the 07-09 5.3L and has done nothing about it. I have owned my last GM vehicle.

The ecoboost is a torque monster and definitely fast. It's too new to know about it's long term durability.

My hunch is that the 6.2 is a better option if you're set on a ford and keeping it/working it hard for a long time. Less hp per cube is always good for durability.

40,000 on the 5.0. I dont think I could own a 6 cyl. truck. I was looking to get a new XLT, but then I realized how much I like all the bells and whistles on my lariat

I have the 6.2 and absolutely love it but I cannot recommend it over the 3.5.

I get around 14 mpg combined and only 17, maybe 18 driving 65-70.

It's got more torque and horsepower than I know what to do with but, it's a truck, not a car.

Take a step down and get the 3.5 which still has awesome torque and great horsepower but gets a combined 18 mpg.

There are lots of really good options for truck buyers. The problem is most of those options are new to the 1/2 ton truck world. Not saying they won't be great over time but the consumer is still the genie pigs for these new options.

Gas turbo's / eco diesels just to name a few hopefully they are a success but only time will tell.

You should do some research. Things are not as they seem.

I wish. I purchased the ecoboost and love the torque and the truck but fuel mileage is not close to that. Combined is 16 ish. Hwy is 17.5-18 at 75. The only way to get 20mpg is 55-60 mph. Who drives that speed on the interstate?
