In honor of Fallon's first Tonight Show, here is arguably one of the best moments in the show's history. Carson interviewing Sinatra for the first time with Don Rickles joining in.

Easily one of my favorite moments, perhaps my favorite. Rickles

What about Leno's interview with Kim Kardashian?

Carson was so good I am glad I was able to appreciate the end of his run.
I am interested in seeing what the new nbc late night operation will look like. With Lorne Michaels streamlining the entire late night operation and housing it all in New York he can essentially book for Fallon and Meyers plus snl. I imagine it hurts Letterman most since he's in NY and Kimmel is in LA as it would be a better deal to promote a movie or band on 2 shows as opposed to just on Letterman

Not only that, but Fallon excels at viral/social media stuff. Celebs will love to pitch in on skits and such in hopes that it gets replayed millions of times online. Letterman can't compete with that.
It will be interesting to see how long Letterman lasts now. Wouldn't shock me if he retires in a few years and they go after Conan.

Yeah I think Dave really wanted to outlast Jay, now that he's done that I think he will walk away after another year or so.

But Letterman's interview of Crispin Glover remains the greatest moment in late night TV history.

This. The only other host, besides Letterman, in the same time slot is Kimmel and he's young enough to be able to put up some good competition. Within the next few years, Letterman will be gone and it will be Jimmy vs. Jimmy.

Yep. Letterman is now the old guy. He'll look stale compared to Kimmel and Fallon.
As a big fan of Carson, I like that Fallon will bring some spontaneity back to the show.

I don't know, I strongly associate Jimmy Kimmel with Bill Simmons (for obvious reasons) and I find Fallon to be much more appealing to the younger demographic, whereas Kimmel seems to be to me one of the staunch obseravational humorists who has continued on as an "evolved Jerry Seinfeld", even though Seinfeld would not host such a program.
