Guys. Please. Listen to ANY announcer from ANY OTHER big time university. PICK ANY SPORT. You will pray that Hawthorne stays a hundred more years! Yes, he will botch a play or a name sometimes but his depiction as to what everything looks like, his ability to make you "see" the game and his general preparedness and knowledge of the game is cards and spades better than any in the country- that I can assure you of. You have to compare him to others before u bash him. Finally, find someone else who calls all 3 major sports. We gave the best man!

He's heads and shoulders better than hum drum Jim Ferguson who preceded Hawthorne.

Don't get me wrong, I love Hawthorne for his uniqueness and his passion, but the man can make it difficult to follow what's going on in the game. I've been listening to games and been lost as to what was going on.
You take the good with the bad. Like I said, I enjoy Hawthorne but he's not among the best when it comes to calling the game in a way that you feel as though you can follow the action almost as well as if you were watching.

Complete bullshite. I dont bash Hawthorne but he is no where the best. I travel a lot on the road and listen to a lot of college sports on Sirius. I have heard many other local broadcasters that are much better.

I will support Hawthorne when he stops saying:
Ellick Box Stadium
Ellicks Bregman
Second Sacker
That's not much.

At least Ferguson was"in the moonlight". Hawthorne is constantly in the dark! Give me Ferguson and Walter Hill anytime!

Whether he is "best" or not, he does usually allow me to see the game. He is plenty good enough for me and well suited for radio.

Charlie, Kevin and Doug try to help too, but Jim keeps interrupting them and not allowing them to finish their sentences.
