I need some spillway advice

Been fishing on the river side for a while now but put the boat in the spillway this morning and got overwhelmed with all the canals. I have no idea where to go for bass/crapaperchalait. I'm in Pigeon at Boo's landing. I know asking for spots is asking a lot but does anyone wanna help a OB'er out with names of lakes or general areas to go around there?

You might need to bump this during the week if you don't get many answers. Lots of people out and about today...

Yeah, I thought about that but I just got home after a frustrating 4 fish weekend.
This 3.5 lber was the biggest.

We used to fish Grand Lake a good bit.My biggest fish to date 7#3oz came from the Schwing chute(sp)in Grand Lake.We would go down Little Pigeon to the Crossover Canal and hang a left.Take that and go to big Pigeon and make a right.Stay in Big Pigeon until you hit Grand Lake. Its about a 30 minute ride from the public landing IIRC.There are also several run outs when the water is dropping that you can pick up a few fish on a shallow running Bandit.

Get a good map and gps and just go And look for good water. The bite should start picking up soon.
Don't get discouraged with bad days. I've had numerous 0 bite days in the spillway. I thought about going today, but will probably go next weekend.

GPS worked well this morning, I just didn't know where to go and basically just rode. everywhere I stopped and tried to fish was so shallow that it wasn't worth messing with and the water was terrible.
I see Grand Lake, now just gotta figure out how to get there from the landing. It looks like I was 3/4 of the way there today when I decided to turn around, just didn't know it.
Thanks

Looking at the map I went into and through Murphy Lake this morning. Went out of the south side and turned around probably due north of Grand Lake The GPS on my depth finder worked well as far as getting me back but the maps on it kinda suck

Shell Cuts are a good spot for a beginner to start. Start there and expand outward a little each trip.

Seriously?

A beginner needs to stick to intracoastal waterway. It holds the most fish. Stay out of bayou long, west fork, and pigeon, they are over rated

Ive literally caught fish everywhere down there. Theres just too many spots to guess where the fish are that day.
Reed canal and zig zags are another good spot
