Lemons in your water at restaurants could be making you sick

So as it turns out, yes, apparently where you eat and who's working in the front and back of the house matters a great deal.
quote:
In a study for the Journal of Environmental Health, researchers found that 70 percent of lemons used in restaurants as garnish were contaminated with microbial growth. They tested the rinds and flesh of 76 lemons from 21 restaurants over 43 visits, and discovered that half of them contained human fecal matter.. That’s right. That tasty lemon wedge in your water (or diet coke or iced tea) has a 50/50 chance of hosting microscopic pieces of human poop. That’s so gross.

Yep. I ask for no lemon always.
Also, flies love those things. They shite and vomit on them.
No thanks.

Pretty sure your toothbrush is probably covered in human fecal matter as well

The worst is at bars.
Bartenders can't have very clean hands

I wash my hands before I brush, and my toothbrush is well far removed from my toilet.
Not sure it's the toothbrush or the lemon that's the real problem here, but the human.

People worry about this and then go handle the menus. They are the dirties things outside of the bathrooms.

I saw a TV news story a few years ago that said water samples taken from restaurant toilets often contained less bacteria than samples taken from their ice machines!

I have heard this before, but am a bit skeptical...how the hell could human shite get in 50% of all lemon slices in resturants?...

Ice machines are never cleaned. Hell one that is with fountain drinks has probably never even been looked into.

Very dirty, but the low wage clock puncher in the kitchen or disgruntled waiter or waitress constantly talking about when they get their "real job" and couldn't care less concerns me so much more, and why I take food and where I eat pretty seriously, and am willing to pay significantly more to know I have professionals who care, are passionate, take great pride in their profession, and use their brains preparing the stuff I am about to put in my mouth and ingest.

That was what the report focused on. Said that ice machines would have to be emptied / thawed in order to clean them properly. Therefore it's rarely done.

Where did Bubba go?
Bathroom.
Bubba, get on the line, we're in the weeds. Here, slice these lemons.
This is in a sense minor compared to the cross contamination that goes on the restaurants that are popular and busy, especially with low emphasis placed upon wages, resulting in bottom feeders preparing your food. It's a vicious cycle. We tell restaurants in no uncertain terms we want "the bargain deals". They cater to us, and end up with low skilled and bottom dweller employees who don't think and or don't care preparing your food.

Frick that, I like my lemon and often fight the iguana's for the limes on my tree in Key West no telling what those frickers do to them at night.
Most plants grow from shite you just have to accept reality.
Brush your teeth and don't fricking smoke and you'l be fine.

I under stand how it is possible to contaminate lemons with shite...but to contaminate 50% of all lemon slices served in resturants would take a hell of an effort....

I always check out the salt & pepper shakers, etc. If they're greasy and grimy I ask for clean replacements.

Then you go home with wife and lick her pussy. OMG... Don't eat the lemon.

I lick her arse too. But it's her, so it's no big deal
