A 6-year-old boy has been hospitalized after an attack by a neighbor's pit bull.

April Hancock said she was watching out a window Wednesday evening as her son, Wyatt Abraham, was playing soccer in a neighbor's yard and the dog snapped its chain. The dog's owner wrestled the animal off, but released it as Wyatt began to run away, and the dog attacked again, Hancock said.

Wyatt was severely bitten on his face, requiring hours of reconstructive surgery, and another surgery is scheduled for deep puncture wounds to his arm.

there needs to be legislation. The time has come

I don;t know what to do. I believe that regardless how they are raised that instinct is there and seems to come out alot.

Now I know other dogs may attack more often but don't do near the damage.

Sounds like the dog was truly pampered by its owner.

The dog, which has no recorded history of attacks, was euthanized.

The dog's owner was also cited, animal services reported.

At least there's that.

Dog attacks someone and mandatory 5 years prison for owner

It would stop these idiots that have dogs that they know, if given the opportunity, would attack

Keep the damn dog away from kids

You're probably safe at a Friday at this hour. The day crew would be in here freaking out that you said that.

It would all come to a halt if owners would be held criminally responsible for their "pets" behavior.

keep an eye on your kid

If a dog will chase a child and attack he/she...no amount of "eye" will suffice

And getting bit by a dog....and attacked to the point of needing multiple surgeries are totally different

It's on the owner to keep the dog away if he's dangerous

So you get out of here with that shite

Nope. Generally the element of the population that owns and encourages aggressive dogs could give zero shits about being held "criminally responsible"
