Great series on timeout plays. Usually focuses on offense, but this one is all about defense.

Amazing all the little things it takes to be a good defense.

And I'll say it again, if you like following the NBA in general, subscribing to Tom Zillers basketball daily email is a must.

What does it sat about Monty's inbound plays? particularly the one against the Raptors with 17 seconds down 5 when he called a lob for Davis at the rim that had no chance?

GMoney-

Monty is average at ATOs in my opinion. Some good, some bad.

I doubt that play was throw it to Davis no matter what. Same time all of us have been begging the guards to just throw it up to Davis.

Yeah, but not on an inbounds play down 5 with 17 seconds to go. There was some misdirection/screens aimed to get AD to the rim. It was slow developing and forced. IMO.

Yes, I've seen some plays that work ATO. But in late game, crunch time scenarios, they fail to get a good luck more times than not.

Yeah. Monty is a bit too controlling and slow for my tastes.

And this team is the absolute worst in 2 for 1 situations. That Roberts shot in Milwaukee was a bad shot, but it was one of the few times I can think of when they managed the clock in a smart way.

Poor coaching and poor awareness from players
